Since 2002, in addition to the more than 100 surgeries and catheterizations, THAP has achieved the following:
- 400 reviews of children with heart ailments by medical personnel
- 240 children received echos, ECGs, chest x-rays, and other required tests
- 396 children received pre- and post-operative medications and information on diet and nutrition necessary for successful operations
THAP is grateful to the Chain of Hope medical mission teams from the United Kingdom (UK) for the excellent care they provide in Nairobi and in the UK for THAP's more complicated cases.
In addition, THAP has sponsored a U.S. medical mission team, led by Dr. Hani Hennein, former Chief of Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital in Cleveland, OH, and a member of the THAP-USA Board of Directors. Dr. Hennein's team visited in 2006, 2007, and 2008. Team members have provided education and training to physicians, nurses and perfusionists with respect to operative and post-operative management.
